Dear food lovers,

About 2 weeks ago me and my fiancé went to Mall Taman Anggrek - one of the busiest mall in Jakarta - to visit the wedding exhibition that were held there. We were looking for certain wedding cake vendor which we had made an appointment before. Also, we took our time to look at other vendor for 2nd opinion.

All of this searching, talking, and negotiating surely make one hungry - ravenously hungry to be exact! There are plenty of eatery places in Mall Taman Anggrek, the problem was MTA is not our “area of expertise” & we want to try something different than all those familiar names (hint: fast food chain with the intial M, W!)

So at we spotted the sign of Red Tomato, the House of Pasta & Pizza, and decided to give it a go. From a distance the place was like empty, but since we’re too tired to walked somewhere else, we kept walking there. Come to think of it, I think it was the redness of the place decoration that attracted us.

At the entrance there was the menu for the RT, and we scanned through their list. Pricewise, it’s quite expensive especially for casual eater since most of the main dishes start from ±30rb and up. They seemed to spesialised in Pasta & Pizza, yet there are other non-Italian dishes as well.

So, what did we ordered? For appetizer, I tried their RT Specials Salad (it’s kinda mix salad), then we ordered a regular pizza with sweet potato as an extra (cheesy bit is another option). For drink, we stick to just drinking Aqua hehehe…

Food presentation was not bad, taste wise all the food was ok, and the pizza IS good (albeit a bit pricy - 8 slices for regular size, start from ±80000). The salad was kinda letdown, especially since we found out that the vegetables wasn’t cleaned properly before cooking (some “weird” stuff on the vegies). Portion wise, it’s big enough and makes one really feel full and won’t be able to eat any other food for a long long time.

We sat at the end of the room, near the big glass window where we can see the bridges, carpark & motorpark across the MTA, and plenty of buildings as well. For this, and the overall design of the interior (the got a special smoker section), I think this place has the potential to be a cozy dining place.
